The export of sunflower seeds from the Hetao Plain in China involves more than 90 countries and regions across five continents
Hohhot, November 25th (Xinhua) - In Bayannur City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a small sunflower seed has now been exported to more than 90 countries and regions across five continents.
On November 25th, news from the Department of Commerce of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region showed that sunflower seeds in Bayannur City are contributing to the local rural revitalization through foreign trade.
According to official information, Bayannur City, located in the Hetao Plain of China, has become a national hub for sunflower seed processing and export. There are currently 130 seed processing and export enterprises with an annual processing capacity of 600000 tons. In addition to processing locally grown sunflower seeds, sunflower seeds from Chifeng City, Xilingol League, Xinjiang, Gansu, and even Kazakhstan and Russia are also gathered and processed here, with exports involving more than 90 countries and regions on five continents.
According to statistics from the Department of Commerce of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the export of only seed and kernel products in Bayannur City can increase the annual income of 800000 farmers and herdsmen by 4000 yuan per capita.
